The Institute for Special Education and Rehabilitation organizes one year special education and rehabilitation studies for subject teachers who are already included or would like to be included in implementation of educational process of people with developmental disabilities. According to the Law of the Elementary and Secondary Education, subject teachers who work in special schools have to have one year special education and rehabilitation studies.

The following subjects are included in the studies:

•  general Special Education and Rehabilitation
•  psychology for children with developmental disabilities
•  didactics and special didactics
•  professional orientation and training of people with developmental disabilities
•  methodology of teaching (specific methodology dependent on the disability; for example: methodology of teaching oligophrenology, methodology of teaching tiflology and so on).

After finishing the exams the special teachers acquire certificates of completed one year Special Education and Rehabilitation studies.
